It’s Saturday night and rather than face the hot night of drunken crowds and expensive beers, I’m going to tuck in with Forgetting Sarah Marshall (a movie that’s come up twice in the past day) and patiently wait for the fall. On to scarves! Flannel and stockings! Pretty leaves and apple pie! I’m eagerly anticipating the day the radiators rumble to life and emit that sweet warm smell.
But before I can slumber, I need to rant. President Obama would like to address the students on the merits of education and staying in school. HOW DARE HE! HE’S BRAINWASHING THE PRECIOUS YOUTH OF TODAY! Soon we’ll all be lining up for bread and wearing too much red! He might even get them going on that crazy idea of community! Or Islam! Or affordable healthcare! What a bastard.
Now I’m a bit past my “youthful” years, my salad days if you will, but if I were a teenager today I’d be pretty damn insulted. I’d be downright pissed if someone told me that I couldn’t listen to a speech given by the President of my country because it is deemed “too dangerous” for my darling feeble adolescent mind. Well I’m sure all these parents will keep their kids out of school that day and stick em right in front of Fox News. At least there’s nothing subtle about their method of brainwashing.
Happy Labor Day! (Though that sounds like a damn commie holiday supporting unions)
